Abstract: Cirrhosis is a serious disease that seriously endangers people's health. Its characteristics of high incidence, high recurrence rate and high mortality are currently difficult problems for the medical treatment of cirrhosis. Although orthotopic liver transplantation is an ideal treatment for end-stage liver disease, its wide application in clinical practice is limited by the lack of liver donors, high postoperative immune rejection and high medical costs. Stem cells are a kind of cells with high differentiation potential and strong self-renewal ability. Stem cell transplantation is one of the research hotspots in the field of life science and cell biology, which brings hope to patients with cirrhosis and breaks the traditional idea that liver cells cannot regenerate after cirrhosis. Recent studies have shown that stromal cell-derived factor-1 alpha (SDF-1α) is one of many chemokines, and the combination of sdf-1 alpha and its specific receptor CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) can induce stem cell migration and proliferation, which is also a common mechanism of TCM compound or monomer intervention. In this paper, the existing research results of TCM on the regulation of SDF-1α/CXCR4 pathway on stem cells in the treatment of cirrhosis were described, which provided a theoretical basis for TCM intervention in stem cell transplantation in the treatment of cirrhosis.
