[Abstract] Objective: Starting from quantitative analysis of rat macroscopic characterization, and taking "cause-pulse-syndrome-treatment" as the exploratory thinking, to analyze the syndrome attribution of the COPD rat model which was caused by LPS combined with smoking. Methods: SD rats were randomly divided into two groups (blank group and model group). The model group was established by LPS combined with smoking. After modeling, the pathological state of COPD was judged by pathology and blood gas analysis. The macroscopic characteristics of the rats were observed and quantified, and comprehensive analysis syndrome type by using four diagnostic methods. Results: The rats in the model group had accelerated breathing rate in a calm state or in swimming, lost weight and increased by small degrees. The time and distance was shortened in exhaustive swimming, activity ability was?insufficient, the brightness value of coat color was low. Livid claw, dark purple tongue, sublingual varices, which was the macroscopic characteristics that accorded with the diagnostic criteria of main symptom, minor symptom and tongue?condition of Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. Conclusion: LPS combined with smoking can steadily, repeatly, and continuously establish COPD rat model of Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.
