Objective: To study the correlation between chemical composition and chroma of Scutellariae Radix by determining its chroma and content of baicalin, and to provide theoretical basis for grading standard and quality evaluation of Scutellariae Radix. Methods: Scutellariae Radix powder was determined by chromatograph, and the content of Scutellariae Radix in Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015 edition was determined by HPLC. Statistical analysis was carried out by SPSS21.0 software. At the same time, the correlation between the two was studied and analyzed by combining the results of the content determination of the internal components of medicinal materials. Result: The content of Baicalin in Scutellariae Radix was positively correlated with a* (representing red-green color) and b* (representing yellow-blue color) to a certain extent (P < 0.01), indicating that, to some extent, the higher the value of a* and b*, the higher the content of baicalin, while the content of baicalin was negatively correlated with L* (representing light and dark color) (P < 0.01), indicating that to a certain extent, the smaller the value of L*, the higher the content of baicalin. Conclusion: The appearance color of Scutellariae Radix is correlated with the content of baicalin, and the content of deep brown yellow Scutellariae Radix and baicalin is relatively high and the quality is relatively good. The content of active ingredients in Scutellariae Radix can be determined by chromatograph, which can provide reference for grading and quality standardsSof Scutellariae Radix. It also has a certain guiding significance in production and commodity circulation of Scutellariae Radix.
