Nowdays, with the strong support of the motherland for the cause of the Traditional Chinese Medicines(TCMs) , as well as the development of new analytical technologies and methods are emerging, pharmacodynamic material basis research of TCM has been developing rapidly and achieved fruitful results, which plays an positive role in clarifying the mechanism of TCM and improving its quality standard. It is difficult to ensure the effectiveness of TCM because of the weak correlation between the current quality control methods and their efficacies. Based on this, our group put forward the idea of "spectrum-effect integrated fingerprint", which is a comprehensive evaluation model that combines the identification of chemical characteristics with the evaluation of biological activity. This review summarized the application of spectral effect correlation research methods in the study of pharmacodynamic substance basis of TCM, in order to provide a new thinking angle and method for the study of material basis of TCM based on “Effect-Spectrum integrated fingerprint” and contribute to standardization and internationalization of Chinese Medicine.
